Mystic Mac: Modern Day Prophet

Conor McGregor (aka Champ Champ, aka The Notorious, aka Mystic Mac) returns to the UFC octagon tonight for the highly anticipated rematch with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. So it just felt right to have McGregor’s Comedy Chair debut on the same day. McGregor has been known to accurately predict results in fights and events in his life. Some believe this is a magical power McGregor has. Some believe this is the theory of Attraction (Law of Attraction). Some believe these events and predictions are merely a series of coincidences.

“If you can see it here and you have the courage to speak it, it will happen.” – Conor McGregor

Octagon Oracle

An oracle, by definition via Wikipedia, is a person or agency considered to provide wise and insightful counsel or prophetic predictions, most notably including precognition of the future, inspired by deities. But in typical McGregor fashion, an existing word wouldn’t due for outstanding gift he had for predicting the results of his fights. McGregor coined his ability to gaze into his crystal ball and seeing into the future as the “Mystic Mac”. I know what you’re thinking, especially if you’re not familiar with McGregor’s talent: “not possible” “coincidences”. Let me provide you the facts and see if you start to believe.

McGregor has successfully predicted results in his fights and life numerous times:

  • “I am a professional fighter with a record of 4-1. I am an up and coming fighter and without a doubt you will see me in the UFC in the near future. Without a doubt.” At 18, the young Irishman, in an interview expressed the optimistic viewpoint of his future fighting career. Which in a matter of 7 years, McGregor’s prediction came true as he signed with the UFC in February 2013 and debuted two months later in April 2013 against Marcus Brimage (McGregor won in the first round and received the honors of his first UFC “Knockout of the Night”).
  • “I’m the future.” When meeting the famous UFC ring announcer, Bruce Buffer (ITS TIME!), he confidently told him to remember his name and that he would be a future UFC champion. After defeating Stephen Bailey in the first round with a TKO stoppage, McGregor walked over to the camera and let the world know that he indeed was the future of mix martial arts.
  • “Saturday when I go out there and put Diego away in the first round, I will prove my worth.” McGregor did it again in his third UFC fight against Diego Brandao. And he did so in a very quick manner…34 seconds KO win.
  • “I am going to crack him with a jab and he is going to wobble and I am going to put him away early. It is going to be a first round finish, mark my words.” “Trust me this is a first round KO for me. I have no doubt in my mind.” McGregor’s next prediction was against his opponent tonight at UFC 257, Dustin Poirier. Conor stole the show during his first UFC pay-per-view debut with another first round KO.
  • “There is a lot of great stars up here, a lot of huge huge fights, but let’s see by the end of 2015, lets see who has the highest PPV numbers, lets see who has the highest gate, lets see who has the highest attendance, because I am setting up for that.” Speaking of pay-per-views, McGregor made another bold prediction by saying at the end of 2015 his name would be associated with the highest pay-per-view numbers, highest gate, and attendance. Conor went 2 for 3 here. In his fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in December 2015, their fight broke the record for the gate intake and attendance at an UFC event. The pay-per-view buys came in as the second most in history (McGregor would go on to break the pay-per-view record in 2016).
  • “If I am being honest I could see a fight between my and Jose being scheduled…and then I could see Jose pulling, but I could see Franky stepping in.” Chalk up another one for The Notorious Conor McGregor. A couple days before Aldo and McGregor were going to face off, Aldo pulled out due to a rib injury. McGregor was crystal clear here with his prediction, but was a bit off with who would step in for Aldo. Franky wasn’t McGregor’s next victim, Chad Mendes took Aldo’s place and suffered a defeat to the Mystic Mac.
  • “You want to know how confident this kid is, I can’t believe I am going to say this, but he told Lorenzo and I the other day, ‘I will bet you $3 million I will knock him out in the second round.” (Quote from Dana White, UFC President) This prediction will give you goosebumps. Might be the Mystic Mac’s best and craziest prediction. Conor confident, $3 million dollar type of confidence, told Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta that he would KO Chad Mendes in the second round. After a contested battle, McGregor’s prediction came true with only 3 seconds left in the second round when he connected with a left hook and took to the ground to become the interim UFC Featherweight Champion.
  • “When I am pressing him and pressing him and we are having these exchanges and these scrambles his belly is going to be breathing in and his body is going to be screaming for oxygen and I am going to be still there in his face cracking him with everything I have, the heel the knee. “What are you going to do? You can’t even pass guard, you’re a white belt on the mat. You get me down, you hold me down, I will butcher you from the bottom. I will get back up and butcher you on the feet.” One prediction wasn’t enough for the Chad Mendes Conor McGregor showdown from the Mystic Mac. In the second round, it went exactly how McGregor described it would go. McGregor immediately pressured Mendes at the start of the opening bell, with a serious of poetic fighting events: spinning techniques, punches, knees, and very vicious elbows.
  • “I felt when we stared down, I felt his right hand was twitching a little bit, that was a subtle tell for me. He is ready to unload that right hand, but I feel that could be a down fall for him. If he unloads that right hand I will not be there. “one hundred percent, I will analyze reactions in there. If I faint and he reacts some way I will give him that reaction to set him up for something else. I will create traps and dead space inside that octagon, all over the place and I will walk him into it like a zombie. That is what I plan to do with Jose. I plan to set him up, trap him, lead him into dead space, lead him where he feels he is safe, but all of a sudden it’s a trap and he is in big danger.” This would be my favorite prediction because not only was the prediction absolutely crazy accurate but it took longer for McGregor to say this prediction than his unbelievable win over Aldo. McGregor defeated Aldo in a matter of 13 second almost to a “T” on how he described it would go in an interview with Robin Black. This victory would capture the official UFC Featherweight Championship for McGregor.
  • “Two belts and shares in the company.” In a tweet on June 4th 2014, McGregor posted out an extremely bold prediction. Not only a prediction of shares in UFC, but a prediction of holding two UFC Championship belts which has never been done before. Almost 2 years later, Conor McGregor became the first ever simultaneous two-division UFC champion (hence the nickname, Champ Champ) when he defeated Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship.

UFC 257 Mystic Mac Prediction

“I like Dustin. I think he’s a good fighter – he’s even a great fighter, you know, but great is still levels below me. I’ll knock Dustin out inside 60 seconds.” McGregor is looking to go two for two with his “Mystic Mac” abilities tonight in his rematch against Dustin Poirier. Conor looks good, looks confident, and looks happy. Which is a very dangerous combination. Last time he looked like this, he defeated Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in 40 seconds by KO/TKO a little over a year ago. McGregor also said in an interview with Robbie Fox from Barstool Sports, ”I’m going to finish the show and I’m gonna steal the show. Mark my words.” Choice is yours on what you would like to believe about Conor McGregor’s abilities to predict the future, however I believe!

As I wear my August McGregor Flocked Blood Hungry Gorilla sweatshirt, I am going to do my best to summon the abilities of the “Mystic Mac”. Conor McGregor will defeat Dustin Poirier in 34 seconds. GO LUCK CHAMP CHAMP!!
